    "default": "If the recipe for this drink seems familiar, that's because it is. The Boulevardier is the American cousin of the Negroni, made from a base of American whiskey and named for an American... in France. This drink, like many others, was created by Harry MacElhone of Harry's New York Bar in Paris, better known today as Harry's Bar. It is mentioned only briefly in his book Barflies and Cocktails (1927), not among the cocktail recipes, but rather in the epilogue that follows, which recounts the antics of his regular patrons: \"Now is the time for all good barflies to come to the aid of the party, since Erskine Gwynne crashed in with his Boulevardier Cocktail: 1/3 Campari, 1/3 Italian vermouth, 1/3 bourbon whisky.\" Erskine Gwynne was a wealthy young journalist who came to Paris from New York, and in 1927 launched a literary magazine for posh men about town called—you guessed it—The Boulevardier..."
