"default": "\"Corpse revivers\" are thought to have once been a family of cocktails all to themselves, with references going back as far as the 1870s. Engineered to assist in the survival of the morning after the night before, many of these hangover cures have been lost to time and only a few still exist today. Whether it is a viable cure for a hangover is another story, but when made correctly this is a pretty good option for the middle of the evening.\n\nFrank Meier was thought to have invented the Corpse Reviver #1 at some point in the 1920s while working at The Ritz in Paris. In his Artistry of Mixing Drinks (1934), he lists the drink as equal parts Cognac, Calvados, and sweet vermouth, shaken and strained. However, the drink also appears in Harry Craddock's The Savoy Cocktail Book (1930) as a stirred drink with twice the dose of Cognac. Harry states that it is: \"To be taken before 11 am, or whenever steam and energy are needed.\""
