    "default": "It is a strange thing that you can take virtually any spirit, mix two parts of it with one part sweet vermouth, add a dash of bitters, and be confident in the knowledge that it'll probably taste pretty damn good. With Cognac it's called a Harvard, with gin it's a Martinez (albeit with one or two small embellishments), with Scotch it's a Rob Roy, and so on. Perhaps none works so well as the Manhattan though. The boisterous, working-class Bourbon or Rye is tamed by the perfumed aromatics of the vermouth and the relationship held together by just a touch of bitterness."
