"default": "The naming of food and drink is a culinary art form in its own right, and one that is best observed in bar culture. With food, a name is seldom more than descriptive, but in cocktails a name has the opportunity to be truly evocative. Take \"Treacle\" for example: you might have never had one before, you can be fairly confident that it won't be a glass of actual treacle, yet the name paints a vivid picture of something that is sweet, viscous, and perhaps a little fruity. And that's exactly what a Treacle is. The drink was invented by late, great British bartending legend Dick Bradsell, who was almost single-handedly responsible for the revival of cocktail culture in London during the late 1980s. Like most of Dick's drinks, Treacle is unpretentious and easy to put together. It's based on an Old Fashioned (Bourbon, sugar, and bitters) but the whiskey is replaced with pot-still rum, and a splash of apple juice is added to pep the whole thing up."
