"default": "The White Russian is not a cocktail for everyone. It's a drink that underwent periods of huge popularity in the 1970s and again in the late 90s, thanks largely to the The Dude in The Big Lebowski, who spends most of the movie mixing White Russians or drinking them. At the time of writing, however, the drink has once more fallen out of favor. Sickly coffee liqueur, anonymous vodka, and gloopy cream are not appealing ingredients to a generation of drinkers that question provenance, sustainability, and calorific content. Truth is, a White Russian is the drink uncool people order thinking that it makes them look cool. So like a shell suit or a lava lamp, perhaps it's time to unceremoniously load it into the back of a people carrier and send if off to the place where cocktails go to die. But before we condemn the White Russian, do you want to know something interesting I've come to realise about it? Well, here it is: it tastes great! Sweet coffee, unctuous cream, and a nice boozy kick. What's not to like?!"
